Skanska started out from modest beginnings in southern Sweden in 1887. Today we are one of the world's leading project development and construction companies. Our operations in the Slovakia date back to 1953 when Zemstav was established. In 1999 we became Skanska SK.


1887 Aktiebolaget Skanska Cementgjuteriet established in Sweden.

1897 The first foreign contract (UK) concluded.

1902 The first foreign branch established.

1927 The first ashalpt communication in Sweden made.

1965 AB Skanska Cementgjuteriet is registered on the Stockholm Stock Exchange A list.

1984 Skanska Cementgjuteriet changes its name to Skanska.

1999 Skanska in Slovakia is born.

2002 The Skanska Code of Conduct is introduced.

2003 Acquisition of Banské Stavby a.s. (Skanska BS a.s.)

2005 Acquisition of Klimavex Košice, the foundation of Skanska Technológie a.s.

2006 Acquisition of Stamart Martin

2010 Acquisition of SkyBau s.r.o.

2012 Skanska celebrates its 125-year anniversary.

2016 Skanska Construction Romania and Hungary became a part of the business unit Czech republic and Slovakia as the seventh division.
