Sponsoring
With respect to sponsoring and social responsibility, we follow the guidelines of our Swedish headquarters. Our goal is to focus Skanska sponsoring in the Slovak Republic along three basic lines: education, safety and natural and environmental protection.
Skanska perceives social responsibility and sustainable development as an inseparable part of company development and invests generously in these fields. The company has built its serious reputation thanks to its economic success but also due to its donorship and active approach to responsibility. Skanska is convinced that the time will soon come when a responsible and welcoming approach to nature and people will be one of the main conditions for business.
We have cooperated with the Ekopolis Foundation since 2004. The reconstruction of the sewage plant in Tatranska Polianka after the windstorm in the High Tatras was our first common project. This cooperation developed into the joint grant program “Ľudia pre stromy” (People for Trees) designated for the general public and our employees. It also includes a public survey “Strom roka” (Tree of the Year). In 2007, a total of 10,487 trees and bushes were planted, 25 rare trees were saved, and 32 green areas next to schools and residential areas and other public spaces were refurbished within the framework of this program. To date, more than 17 000 trees have been planted in Slovakia .
The Skanska Group in the SR has been a member of the Business Leaders Forum (BLF) since 2004. The BLF is an informal association of companies that undertakes to be leaders in the promotion of socially responsible business principles in Slovakia. It currently includes 18 top companies in Slovakia from various areas of business.
In 2008, we began to intensively cooperate with Dobrý Anjel (Good Angel) a non-profit organization that through the humanitarian Good Angel System of Civil Financial Aid makes regular financial contributions to families in which a parent or child suffers from cancer or another serious illness, such as cerebral palsy, cystic fibrosis or chronic kidney failure.
In the field of culture, we help to sponsor many significant events such as the Bratislava Summer of Culture and Castle Festivities.
